Beginning at Hosshinmon-oji, a sacred gateway traditionally associated with entering the innermost realm of Kumano, the trail leads through peaceful forests, small mountain communities and timeless rural landscapes before reaching Kumano Hongu Taisha, one of the three Grand Shrines of Kumano.
